Matt Bacon is an independent musician gracefully blurring the boundaries between timeless Spanish guitar sensibilities & the force of personality required to write captivating, guitar-oriented music in the 21st century. With respect to the former, Matt is the only guitarist to perform Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" in India. He had the honor of premiering this with AR Rahman's Sunshine Orchestra at the 2020 Chennai Guitar Fest, for which Matt is the Founder & Artistic Director.
With one foot in tradition, Matt exposed an entirely new audience to the music of Paco de Lucia & Segovia and is one of the most active proponents of the guitar in the country. Matt teaches at KM Music Conservatory & is endorsed by Procraft India. With his original compositions, Matt blends traditional classical guitar technique with a world music touch resulting in adventurous, yet at times meditative pieces in exotic tunings & complex time signatures reflective of both his travels & his formal training at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.
As a session player Matt has laid down tracks for Anirudh, ARR as well as staying active on the indie scene with Chennai Street Band, Sapta, Sathya Narayanan & Bluesanova. Matt writes out all of his compositions the old fashioned way in TAB & Staff notation - if you're interested in getting the score to "Masala Blues" "Clair de Lune" or even his "Led Zeppelin Variations"
