This piece is a piano arrangement of the classic hymn, 'Abide with Me’ (also known as 'Eventide') in the key of Db major. Henry F. Lyte (1793-1847) wrote the words of this hymn as he came to realise that his time on earth was drawing to a close. Based on Luke 24:29, Lyte left us with an immortal line 'fast falls the eventide; the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide'.
